A Dance of Color
This Punk is inspired by CryptoPunk #3011 and artworks of Lisitsky. SupremePunk #001 keeps a mixture of different cultures described at the same period - the 20th century. It is about Soviet futurism and the culture of the tribes of Latin America, specifically the country of Guatemala. Despite the complete contrast in cultural development between the Latin countries and the Soviet Union, local artists often used the work of Soviet painters as a source of inspiration. This led to the idea of combining the styles of different art schools.
Antonio Coché — Bird's Eye
Punk's color palette is derived from naive non-European contemporary art. In addition, SupremePunks' artist worked for some time with Latin artists in Guatemala and was inspired by their style, in particular the art of Antonio Coché "Bird's Eye". Antonio Coché, a Guatemalan artist known in his country's art community, described the 20th century Latin American Lifestyle in the countryside. The bright colors and round shapes express the entourage and culture of the tribes. Nature, tribal life, lack of infrastructure reflect the spirit of freedom and the primitive nature of human history.
Mario Gonzalez Chavajay — Maya Indian Guatemala
We were assisted by local artists from Guatemala in the creation of SupremePunk #001. They helped us select several local paintings in different styles, which we decided to combine into one composition. It was an amazing experiment, after which we were exposed to the deep, multifaceted, vibrant and lively world of tribal art. We tried to combine the experiences of Guatemalan artists and use light to represent not only emotions, but also what is outside the boundaries of what we are used to. Through colour and form we wanted to represent tribal life, full of vibrant colors. For this reason we chose very bright, almost acidic, colours which are quite unusual for the European eye. According to the Guatemalan artists themselves, the result is something really unique and unusual. The punk was created to convey the cultural heritage of Latin America.
The First Artificial Sputnik in Korolev, Russia
In addition to non-European art, we drew inspiration from the works of El Lissitzky - one of the most famous suprematists and sculptors of the USSR. He made a significant contribution to the development of Soviet architecture and design. SupremePunk's #001 architectural style is inspired by first artificial sputnik and memorable space-themed sculptures built in the USSR. The element of SupremePunk reflects the monument "The First Artificial Sputnik" in Korolev as one of the important stages in the history of the USSR. The space theme was often the centre of inspiration and realisation of architectural objects in 20th century.
