Beyond the Canvas
This Punk is inspired by CryptoPunk #7523 and the work of Edvard Munch and Kazimir Malevich. How could this painting be inspired by the forerunner of Expressionism? Of course, the color palette. The red color is a ubiquitous theme in the work of Edvard Munch, occurring either in the hair color of the characters depicted, or in the shades of piercing sunsets that so depressingly influenced the artist. The blue colors were used by Munch to depict the rest of the surrounding world. He has no neutral tones, there are only categorically warm and cold colors that contrast with each other on the canvas and make a strong impression on the viewer.
Edvard Munch — Sick Mood at Sunset. Despair, 1892
Edvard Munch — Vampire, 1895
Kazimir Malevich — White Suprematist Cross, 1927
It is also worth noting that in the image you can see the distorted shapes of the cross formed from the void between the moving squares. But the author depicted their primary basis at the bottom of the canvas, creating a smooth dark blue cross from the gaps between the light blue squares. The proximity between the two colors of the background and the figure resembles the "White Cross" of Kazimir Malevich. Having chosen his conditional "red corner" on the canvas, the author placed there the first figure that surpasses all the others in his painting, the form from which the visualization of this image is based.
Lucho Fontana — Concetto spaziale, Attese, 1959
The "finishing touch" of this SupremePunk is ambiguous - two black lines crossing the background plane diagonally. They are homage to Lucho Fontana, who tried to go beyond the canvas, to go beyond painting as a whole. With such a detail, the author wants to make it clear to the viewer that this Punk shows something unimaginable, indescribable with instruments subject to man. Because of this, Supreme Pink suggests associations with mystical, fantastic creatures that have little in common with humans.
