The Essence
This Punk is inspired by CryptoPunk #5913 and the work of Orest Kiprensky. Orest Adamovich Kiprensky is a brilliant Russian portrait painter, painter and graphic artist, a man of complex and interesting fate. The artist left a noticeable trace in the romantic direction of painting, painted portraits and other works. He coped perfectly with the historical direction, academic standards, but he revealed his talent in portraits, where his ease and naturalness of transmission manifested itself. His gradual ability to reflect light mood, drama, expressiveness only improved – the canvases were filled with life and emotions.
Orest Kiprensky — Portrait of Smirnova Rosset, 1830
The SupremePunk is inspired by the painting by Orest Kiprensky "Portrait of Smirnova Rosset". This painting in the style of romanticism is one of the most memorable in Kiprensky's work. It depicts a refined, but at the same time strict image of a beautiful woman. The artist skillfully managed to convey the image of Smirnova, making it attractive and memorable. Punk not only repeats the portrait compositionally, but at the same time interprets it in a new way. The painting depicts a dark and inviting color, against which the overall figure actively stands out. The central part of the composition is emphasized by red arc-shaped elements. The skin color of the figure is gray and faded. Unlike Kiprensky's painting, the viewer cannot determine where the gaze is directed because of the similarity of the blindfold, he can only guess.
Although the painting is inspired by the work of an old master, it interprets it in its own way. The painting is painted in the style of abstractionism. The objects in the painting are depicted in a simplified and concise manner, but nevertheless the image of the painting does not change from this. The color palette of the painting is strict and limited, warm and cold shades actively contrast, at the same time balancing each other.
Pablo Picasso — Dream, 1932
In the era of abstract art, artists loved to draw female portraits, stylizing and perfecting them. An analogy can be given to the famous portrait of Pablo Picasso "Dream". This painting was painted during the period of surrealism in 1932. The canvas depicts a portrait of Maria Theresa Walter, Picasso's beloved woman, to whom he dedicated many of his paintings. The painting is bright and colorful, the rounded forms of Maria Theresa are emphasized with special subtlety and tenderness. The artist has never painted a woman like that again. He admired his muse, who inspired him to great feats. He uses bright colors for a reason: red is the color of passion, green is the color of calm and peace, yellow is the color of harmony in relationships, white is the color of hope, blue is the color of love and expectation of a miracle.
"Dream" or "Sleep" (the second name of the painting) is the most famous plot from the love period, when the master painted many similar paintings on this subject. The love story is both romantic and tragic, the author transferred his condition to the canvas. The artist painted the portrait in just one day, he worked in his beloved castle in Paris in 1930, which he bought for his dear woman. For several years, many canvases dedicated to Maria Theresa were painted there. Maria Teresa gave birth to his illegitimate daughter, whom he later also depicted on his canvases. Picasso's painting belongs to the most expensive canvases in the world. Now the canvas is in the possession of a private owner, who purchased it for $ 115 million. This is the most expensive assessment of the work, for the entire time of its existence.
Laurent Folco — Lueur, 2020
Unlike Picasso's painting, SupremePunk creates a gloomy and anxious mood. The color palette makes the picture mysterious and frightening. Red, actively highlighted elements in the picture create a sense of anxiety and longing. The active use of red in his works is also realized by the French artist Laurent Folco in his painting "Lueur", which translates from French as "flash" or "bright light". This painting is made in the style of Cubism, and shows a sense of disturbing insight.
The artist SupremePunk has created an amazing and frightening image that immediately attracts attention with its unusual energy.
